Aloha, I'm wondering who pays the most and expects the best. High hours and high pay sound good to hawaii nai. Just curious I have been around for a while and was just wondering where the books are at. This would include all basic bookie jobs (clerk, customer service, VIP, supervisors, line managers.) Thanks for the imput.

The industry is very competitive right now, plus we are in low season.

I could tell you that at least here in Costa Rica you could get your self a job as a supervisor, manager, VIP or line maker getting paid from $2000 up to $3000 a month. THE MOST!

Clerks and customer service salaries could go from $700 to $1500. But as I told you before the industry is very competitive right now and most books are trying to bring down the salaries.

Where do you want to go? any place in particular?

Thanks for the feed back. I'm curious about stepping up to the next level. I was wondering where a good solid book would be. It is low season but I would like to get somewhere maybe in July when I get back from Hawaii. I was looking at the General's list and found there are quite a few books around. I have always been told Betrio is one of the highest paying. I'm truelly interested in New Accounts Division. I have serious contacts to the owners of some very large buisnesses that would love to start accounts. I am focusing on the highest percentage for new accounts that I can get. Thanks again.

Aloha, hawaii_50!
You can find a lot of books on Mall San Pedro, Equus building (San Pedro) and in Oficentro La Sabana, but you have to look for the offices, they don't have signs or anything, if you go resume dropping or want to fill applications, the way to go is look for a security guard and tell him "I'm here to fill an application on a sportsbook but I forgot which floor they told me..." Guards usually know where all the sportsbook are and will send you there.
I guess those are the main locations, but they seem to be spreading... Look for recently-built office buildings, a lot of books are relocating and they like brand new offices!
The usual pay per starters is around $4 per hour for rookies with no experience, it goes up depending on how much experience you have. As for how to get to the bookies, some are hiring right now, and a lot of places will start hiring in Mid-July. Usually on "La Nacion" you can spot ads that usually say: "Can you read and speak perfect english?", 99% of the times those are bookie's ads, so keep your eyes open!

Hawaii 50,

With all due respect to Lady, I would recommend staying away from Mall San Pedro and Saret as well unless you have know clue about the business whatsoever. Those areas are known as being the worst paying. If you need to get some experience you could look into those options but don't sign any contract where you owe them money for training if you dip before a stipulated time period.
If you have some idea of how to write a bet, play up U.S. English and what you know about sports betting and try to get into a small office (small staff moving a lot of cash),pay is much better.

I will have to agree with froggy fred, you need to go to the small books, they do pay better and if you know what youre doing, you can get to the top fast!!!!!, you can find them in Paseo colon i know a few small books there, and do stay away from Saret or any Free Zone they have very shitty salaries
